Enes Kanter is a professional basketball player from Turkey who currently plays as a center for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on May 20, 1992, in Zurich, Switzerland, but grew up in Turkey.
Kanter started his professional career in Turkey and played for the Galatasaray youth team before joining Fenerbahçe. In 2011, he was drafted by the Utah Jazz, where he played for three seasons. He later played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the New York Knicks, and the Portland Trail Blazers before signing with the Boston Celtics in 2019.
Kanter is known for his rebounding and offensive skills on the court. He has represented Turkey in international competitions, including the 2010 FIBA World Under-17 Championships, the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and the 2015 EuroBasket.
Off the court, Kanter is an outspoken political activist and has been critical of the Turkish government. He has been an advocate for human rights and freedom of speech and has publicly criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. These views have led to Kanter being estranged from his family and receiving death threats from the Turkish government.
